The Oregon Short Film Festival is both a celebration of the creatives in filmmaking as well as the city that hosts them. The rose city has so many flavours and landscapes that make up its culture that cannot be captured by one season alone.
Blooming Filmmakers is about the joining and collaboration of ideas together. Each flower representing different themes and aspects of filmmaking along with the way that the city of Portland, Oregon changes throughout the year
Storyboards Round 1
I initially wanted to be a lot more literal with the representation of the city's culture with each of the four roses blooming to a new season. But that proved to be too busy and not quite hitting the right beats that I wanted.
Design Boards Round 1
I ended up simplifying the concept to show just the flowers of the season and a film genre that is screened at the same time. The icons were a lousy placeholder for the film tools and ideas that I wanted to showcase.
The seasons are ordered Autumn-Summer because I wanted to end on the rose for the Rose city of Portland, OR.
Design Boards Round 3
I changed around and implemented the film concepts a little more into the flowers, reordered the seasons to be Winter-Autumn because I was working on this project right before the Autumn screenings and could have been used.
